Senior program manager Dr. Brando “ER” Palomar presents the RITQ recommendations on the implementation of MATATAG curriculum to DepEd.

RITQ presented on 29 April 2024 its formative process evaluation of the MATATAG curriculum pilot implementation to the Department of Education (DepEd) Office of Curriculum and Teaching led by Undersecretary Dr. Gina Gonong.

The evaluation report includes the initial analysis of data gathered from fieldwork activities conducted from February to March 2024 across four regions: NCR, CAR, Region I, and Region II, covering 20 schools that participate in the MATATAG curriculum pilot implementation.

The report was presented by senior program managers Dr. Brando Palomar and Dr. Maria Teresa Manicio.

RITQ’s involvement in the MATATAG curriculum pilot implementation has been multifaceted. The institute has been instrumental in developing learning resource packages, which include extended lesson components crafted through the National Learning Camp. RITQ has integrated the Science of Learning into these lesson components and resource materials, ensuring alignment with the MATATAG curriculum.

RITQ and DepEd team led by Usec. Gina Gonong.

Beyond resource development, RITQ has been actively engaged in monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the MATATAG curriculum. This has involved assessing the utilization of learning resource packages, overseeing the conduct of collaborative expertise sessions, and evaluating instructional leadership within participating schools.

The presentation showcased several key outputs including recommendations for the model of professional development for teachers and school leaders, refined learning resource packages, suggestions for optimizing collaborative expertise session implementation, identification of challenges related to curriculum implementation, and the exemplary practices in curriculum implementation.

This partnership with DepEd aims to develop and implement an effective teacher support system aligned with the revised basic education curriculum encapsulated in the MATATAG framework. (RITQ Comms)
