RCTQ organized a two-part capacity building program for faculty members of the Philippine Normal University (PNU) involved in RCTQ’s work on the MATATAG curriculum.

SiMERR National Research Centre Director and RCTQ Co-Director Dr. John Pegg led the conduct of the activity on 8 and 14 February 2024 for faculty members who  work with RCTQ as writers, validators, and data gatherers.

The Department of Education (DepEd) partnered with PNU, through RCTQ, in enhancing teacher support systems for the MATATAG Curriculum, including the development of teaching and learning resource packages. The partnership aims to develop teacher support materials with student worksheets; and conduct monitoring and evaluation of the pilot implementation of the curriculum to inform the refinement of the learning materials.

On 8 February, Dr. Teresita T. Rungduin, PNU Vice President for Research, Extension, and Quality Assurance gave the opening remarks, while RCTQ Senior Program Manager Dr. Brando C. Palomar explained the purpose of the program. Dr. Marilyn U. Balagtas, Vice President for Academics, introduced Dr. Pegg as the main speaker.
