Twelve years after its founding, RCTQ is now officially rebranded as the Research Institute for Teacher Quality (RITQ).

The transformation to RITQ marks the realization of a five-year strategic plan meticulously crafted by RCTQ in 2021 and 2022, designed to guide its sustainability and autonomy as a leading research institution in the field of education.

The Philippine Normal University (PNU) released on 23 November 2023 the new structure approved by its Board of Regents integrating the new RITQ in its latest PNU organizational structure. The transition underscores PNU’s commitment to bolstering research and development initiatives aimed at enhancing teacher and school leader quality nationwide.

As a dedicated research institute, RITQ will spearhead efforts to improve teacher and school leader quality through comprehensive research endeavors. With proposed annual funding from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), the institute will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping education policies and practices across the country.

Under its revised research agenda, RITQ will prioritize four core focus areas: teacher quality, school leader quality, teacher educators quality, and teaching quality. The institute will serve as a vital resource hub, providing research data to PNU and collaborating with both public and private education stakeholders to inform future policies, legislation, and capacity-building programs.

The institute will continue to hold office at the PNU in Manila, supported by the SiMERR National Research Centre of the University of New England in Australia. (RITQ Comms)
