RCTQ participated in the 6th South Manila Educational Consortium (SMEC) Research Congress on 22-23 February 2024 in Manila by presenting two research papers on enhancing education practices in the country.

Bannering the theme “Strengthening Research Collaboration and Partnership towards Sustainable Communities,” the gathering showcased scholarly papers aiming to further strengthen the research capacities of various institutions, and to establish networks and partnerships in the academic community.

RCTQ Project Officer Ms. Cristy Mendoza presented the paper Advancing Educational Assessment in the Philippines: Designing and Developing Test Items through the SOLO Model Teachers, which underscored the use of the SOLO model as a valuable framework to understand progression of student learning and how it can assist educators in assessing learning outcomes through the development of SOLO-based test items.

RCTQ Research Officer Irvin Jen Imperial presented the research on Enhancing Madaris Education in the BARMM: A Systematic-based Approach in Learning Development for ISAL Teachers, which highlighted the importance of conceptualizing a framework for the Learning and Development System suited for the context of the Bangsamoro teachers and the necessity of conducting needs assessment to inform professional development policy and programs to improve teacher quality in the region.

Joining RCTQ at the congress were the Philippine Normal University, University of the Philippines – Manila, De La Salle University – Manila, De La Salle College of St. Benilde, St. Paul University, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Sta. Isabel College of Manila, Philippine Christian University, University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, Inc., Adamson University, MAPUA University – Makati, Philippine Women’s University, and Lyceum of the Philippines University.
