RCTQ Project Officer Mikkey Tuazon at the Phase 1 of the tools development for the multi-year RPMS last 10 May 2022.

Building on the lessons learned from implementing the Results-based Performance Management System (RPMS) tools during the pandemic, the Department of Education (DepEd) is setting directions for implementing the standards-based RPMS in the next three years.

RCTQ, represented by project officers Mr. Mikkey Mari Tuazon and Mr. Michael Wilson Rosero, is assisting a team from the Bureau of Human Resource and Organizational Development (BHROD) in updating the RPMS tools (means of verification, and performance indicators) and in developing including fresh recommendations, viable policy options and implementation arrangements that can guide how RPMS will be better operationalized.

The first phase of the tools development took place on 10-12 May 2022 in Manila while the second phase is scheduled in July 2022.

The implementation of RPMS for SY 2021-2022 integrated all 37 PPST indicators including their respective means of verifications (MOVs) and performance indicators.

“The current tools development takes into consideration how the RPMS tools have been articulated during pre-pandemic and post-pandemic contexts. We want to ensure that the tools are future-proof, or at least relevant in the next three years,” Mr. Tuazon said. “Most importantly, we make sure that the RPMS is really reflective of what teachers are doing on the ground especially that the DepEd career progression system is now in effect.”

In March 2022, RCTQ joined DepEd in conducting a national orientation for teachers that provided a platform for a comprehensive discussion on the DepEd Memorandum 4, s. 2022 or the Implementation of the RPMS-PPST for Teachers for School Year 2021-2022 issued on 9 February 2022. (RCTQ Comms)
