Teachers will soon be better guided on their performance assessment across the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST) indicators as the Bureau of Human of Resource and Organizational Development – Human Resource Development Division (BHROD- HRDD) with technical assistance from RCTQ finalized the tools and means of verification (MOVs) for the final set of PPST indicators under Year 3 of the implementation of the PPST-based Results-based Performance Management System (RPMS).

At a finalization workshop on 2-4 August 2021, select teachers, master teachers, school heads, and supervisors from various regions conducted the final review of the revised tools for a total of 19 Proficient and Highly Proficient indicators for SY 2021-2022. The RCTQ team, led by Senior Program Manager Dr. Allen Espinosa, also presented findings from its review of the said tools.

In 2017, assessment tools for the first 12 priority PPST indicators or Year 1 of the RPMS cycle were developed and embedded in the RPMS and were rolled out through a series of national, regional, and division level trainings. They were implemented during SY 2018-2019 and SY 2019-2020.

Tools for 12 priority PPST indicators belonging to Year 2 were developed in 2019 and were revised in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They were implemented in SY 2020-2021.

The RPMS Year 3 tools are expected to complete the entire RPMS implementation cycle, and will be implemented during the SY 2021-2022.

The use of the PPST as the basis for all performance appraisals for teachers is based on DepEd Order No. 42, s. 2017 or the National Adoption and Implementation of the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers, which RCTQ helped develop with DepEd in 2017.
