Expert validators of the COVID-responsive module addressing the PPST Indicator 3.1.2 during their orientation with the RCTQ team on 24 April 2021.

RCTQ convened two groups of professionals who will serve as expert validators for the Development and Validation of COVID-Responsive Modules on PPST Indicators 3.1.2 and 3.4.2.

On 24 April 2021, both teams underwent orientation activities to brief them about the project, set expectations on the validation work, and agree on the work timeline.

The project, a collaboration between RCTQ and the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP), aims to develop two online modules that will assist the Department of Education (DepEd) in supporting teaching and learning during and after the pandemic.

The two modules will offer DepEd teachers and school leaders illustrations of good teaching practices that elaborate two indicators of the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST), namely:

“Use differentiated, developmentally appropriate learning experiences to address learners’ gender, needs, strengths, interests and experiences” (PPST Indicator 3.1.2),” and

“Plan and deliver teaching strategies that are responsive to the special educational needs of learners in difficult circumstances, including: geographic isolation; chronic illness; displacement due to armed conflict, urban resettlement or disasters; child abuse and child labor practices” (PPST Indicator 3.4.2).

A team composed of inclusive education experts from two Philippine universities and a nongovernment organization (NGO) agreed to become expert validators for the module addressing the PPST Indicator 3.1.2. They are Dr. Marie Grace Gomez, College of Education, University of the Philippines-Diliman; Dr. Krizna Rei M. Palces, Associate Professor, Philippine Normal University and member of the Philosophical Association of the Philippines; and Ms. Flora May Feria, Executive Director of  the religious organization Rainbow Catholics Philippines. RCTQ’s project team is led by Senior Program Manager Dr. Levi Elipane.

RCTQ’s technical assistance to NEAP is indicated in DepEd Order No. 11, s. 2019 or the Implementation of the NEAP Transformation. The project is supported by the Australian government through its Philippines COVID-19 Development Response Plan.
