Recruitment of personnel for NEAP interim structure underway
The Department of Education (DepEd) has commenced the hiring process to fill the 73 positions under the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) both at the central office and in DepEd regional offices.
RCTQ earlier assisted DepEd through NEAP and the Bureau of Human Resource and Organizational Development (BHROD) in identifying the positions and in organizing the DepEd’s request for approval by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
Heads of Human Resource Development Divisions (HRDDs) from all 16 DepEd regions attended an online orientation on 5 June 2020 organized by the NEAP central office and assisted by RCTQ. The orientation discussed staff deployment and the new NEAP organizational structure both at the central and regional offices per DepEd Order No. 006, series of 2020 or the Adoption of the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) Interim Structure.
HRDD chiefs were oriented on the provisions of RM No. 217, s. 2020 or the Acceptance of Applications for Vacant Positions in the Regional Offices.
The 73 new positions will strengthen DepEd’s efforts in the development and undertaking of professional development programs, projects, and activities to upgrade the competence and skills of public school teachers, heads, and other teaching-related personnel. The recruitment forms part of the NEAP Transformation project, a reform initiative supported by RCTQ which seeks to upgrade education quality by streamlining professional development, making training activities programmatic and accountable, effectively linking professional development with career progression, generating efficient use of resources, and fulfilling NEAP’s mandate as an academy for teachers and school leaders.
The new positions are Senior Education Program Specialists, Project Development Officer III, Education Program Supervisor II, Project Development Officer II, and Administrative Assistant III.
NEAP positions in the regions will either be under the Office of the Regional Director, Office of the Assistant Regional Director or the HRDD.
Based on DO 11, s. 2019, RCTQ, together with partner SiMERR National Research Centre in Australia, shall be providing technical assistance to DepEd in the implementation of NEAP transformation.
