PNU President leads turnover of NQESH items to DepEd

Philippine Normal University (PNU) President Dr. Bert J. Tuga led the formal turnover of the test items for this year’s National Qualifying Examination for School Heads (NQESH) to the Department of Education (DepEd) during a meeting held at the PNU on 11 March 2022.
DepEd, through the Bureau of Human Resource and Organizational Development (BHROD), partnered with PNU-RCTQ on the analysis, design, development, validation, and finalization of the NQESH. RCTQ finalized the items following the results of the series of national validation activities in January 2022.

“We thank BHROD for trusting PNU and the RCTQ team for this very important work. This (NQESH) is one of the many engagements we have with DepEd and I look forward to many more partnerships in the future,” said President Tuga at the turnover. “We are always pleased to be able to provide our technical expertise to DepEd.”
After receiving the test items, Atty. Miguel said the “development of the NQESH test items is a testament of DepEd’s rich partnership with PNU.”
“We are very thankful to PNU RCTQ for being our partner in this undertaking. The quality of the NQESH exam is guaranteed because of this partnership,” said Director Miguel.
Atty. Miguel was joined by BHROD Director III Dr. Jennifer Lopez and Director III Nina Bianca Sanglay.

In December 2021, some 30 TWG members from DepEd wrote the test items with technical assistance from RCTQ. The development of the test items was anchored on the Philippine Professional Standards for School Heads (PPSSH) or DepEd Order No. 024, s. 2020, a set of professional standards that RCTQ also helped develop with BHROD and the Structure of Observed Learning Outcomes (SOLO) framework
The new NQESH will test aspiring public school principals on the competencies described in the Career Stage 1 of the PPSSH.
