The management and staff of both the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP)-Central Office and RCTQ met and identified areas of collaboration at a two-day workshop on 9-10 December 2019 in Quezon City.

The workshop provided a venue to discuss the priority programs for the transformed NEAP in 2020, and identified corresponding next steps. A timeline was also developed for designing the priority programs.

NEAP and RCTQ teams

NEAP Director Mr. John Arnold Siena presented the rationale of the workshop and the updates on the NEAP Transformation project based on the latest meeting of the NEAP transition team, while DepEd Undersecretary Atty. Nepomuceno Malaluan came to the two-day event to give directions and participate in the discussions.

RCTQ’s team was led by its director Dr. Gina Gonong and co-director Dr. John Pegg of UNE-SiMERR.

Discussed extensively by both teams were the Teacher Induction Program (TIP), Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) Program, and alignment of career progression with qualifications standards.

Usec. Nepomuceno Malaluan and Dr. John Pegg discuss the priority programs for NEAP transformation in 2020.

DepEd Department Order No. 11, s. 2019, signed by Sec. Leonor Magtolis Briones, provided guidelines for the implementation of NEAP transformation where RCTQ was identified to be providing technical assistance.
