RCTQ provided technical assistance to the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE)-Directorate General for Madaris Education (DGME) in enhancing the Training of Trainers (TOT) for the in-service training (INSET) of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language (ISAL) teachers held last 11-13 August 2022 in Davao City.

The MBHTE-DGME, in collaboration with Pathways and RCTQ, conducted the enhanced training as a refresher for trainers to be updated and clarified on expectations in the roll-out of the INSET, and to have a deeper understanding of the sessions which will help them in capacitating ISAL teachers in the field.

RCTQ provided feedback on the session slides and materials to further align with the objectives of the INSET to prepare ISAL teachers for the face-to-face classes. A session to introduce and discuss the Teacher’s Weekly Lesson Guide (TWLG) as a new teaching resource material for ISAL teachers in the field was also added in the enhanced TOT.

To equip trainers with technical skills and provide tips in delivering and facilitating the sessions in the roll-out, RCTQ research staff Ms. Ma. Izella Lampos, Ms. Lizette Anne Carpio, and Mr. Irvin Jen Imperial delivered a session on Facilitation Skills for Trainers/Facilitators.

Resource persons from the MBHTE-DGME facilitated the main sessions which are also to be rolled-out in the actual INSET.

The refresher workshop was participated by 30 trainers from across MBHTE-DGME who will run the INSET in their respective divisions in September 2022.

At the end of the training, trainers pledged to a successful implementation of the roll-out of the INSET in their respective divisions.

Prof. Tahir Nalg, Director General of MBHTE-DGME, formally closed the three-day training thanking the participants in his closing message.
