MBHTE writers draft the TWLGs for Grades 1 to 3, for the First Quarter of SY 2022-23

To support teachers teaching Islamic Studies and Arabic Language (ISAL) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) during the resumption of face-to-face classes, the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) through the Office of the Director-General for Madaris Education (DGME), in partnership with Pathways and RCTQ, held workshops in August 2022 to develop the Teacher’s Weekly Lesson Guide (TWLGs) for Grades 1 to 3, for the first quarter of School Year 2022-2023.

RCTQ facilitated the first writeshop to develop the TWLGs for ISAL Teachers last August 8-10, 2022 in Davao City which was participated by 30 selected writers from the MBHTE.

Dr. Maimona Bayan, Senior Education Program Specialist from MBHTE-DGME, explained the purpose of developing the TWLGs, which is to support ISAL teachers in implementing face-to-face instructions in the upcoming school year.

From RCTQ, Ms. Ma. Izella D. Lampos, Senior Project Officer, and Ms. Lizette Anne Carpio, Project Officer, introduced to the writers the TWLG—its parts and features—and the writing mechanics to guide them on the development of TWLG. A timeline was also established and agreed by the writers for the drafting, review, revision and submission of the TWLGs.

At the end of the writeshop, writers were able to develop 88 TWLGs for the six (6) ISAL learning areas for Grades 1 to 3.

RCTQ also provided technical assistance to MBHTE-DGME in quality assuring the TWLGs. The quality assurance workshop was conducted last August 20-23, 2022, in Cotabato City, in which RCTQ joined virtually.

The QA work focused on reviewing the alignment of TWLG content and activities with the curriculum requirements, reviewing the appropriateness of activities with the context of ISAL learners, and applying the final quality assurance measures for the packaging and distribution of TWLGs.

The activity also aimed to document the processes for quality assurance of teaching resources to be replicated in subsequent quality assurance activities.

A total of 86 TWLGs for Grades 1 to 3 were quality assured, finalized and submitted to RCTQ for compilation and packaging.

TWLGs are now ready for distribution to ISAL teachers for use in face-to-face classes.
