The Department of Education Region XII or SOCCSKSARGEN Region conducted a regional online orientation that deepened their understanding of the Philippine Professional Standards for School Heads (PPSSH) and the Philippine Professional Standards for Supervisors (PPSS) on 24-25 February 2021.

RCTQ Director Dr. Gina Gonong served as resource speaker on February 24 for the session on the PPSS or DepEd Order 25, s. 2020 while Dr. Jennifer Lopez, Director III of the Bureau of Human Resource and Organizational Development (BHROD), spoke about the PPSSH or DepEd Order 24, s. 2020 on February 25.

Regional Director Francis Cesar Bringas welcomed Dr. Gonong and the almost 200 participants as he expressed appreciation for the work that RCTQ has done with DepEd in the development of both sets of standards and in advancing teacher quality.

Dr. Gonong extensively discussed the PPSS framework, career stages, domains and strands, and facilitated the participants’ reflection on the standards during her presentation.

Both DepEd orders were signed as DepEd policies by Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones in September 2020. They are expected to benefit a total of 43,448 school heads and 5,500 supervisors who will put the standards into practice nationwide.
