The improved DepEd Teacher Induction Program (TIP) was pilot-tested by newly-hired teachers and their mentors from five regions from 24 September until 1 October 2020.

The week-long virtual activity implemented the induction program to a sample group of newly-hired teachers in order to evaluate its feasibility, identify possible concerns in the implementation, and help improve on the in-school mentoring system prior to the program rollout in 2020.

Some 400 new teachers, mentors, school heads, division coordinators, and NEAP Regional (NEAP-R) Office personnel from Regions 4A, 6, 7, 10, and the National Capital Region participated in the pilot-testing. Data from the pilot testing was collected through online worksheets. Selected participants also participated in an FGD conducted on October 2, 2020, to share their experiences and frequently asked questions. These data will be used to improve the TIP coursebooks and implementing guidelines.

RCTQ is assisting the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) and the Teacher Education Council (TEC) in developing courses for an enhanced TIP for newly-hired teachers.

The new TIP will soon become one of the program offerings of the transformed National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP). DepEd Order No. 11, s. 2019, signed by Sec. Leonor Magtolis Briones, provided guidelines for the implementation of NEAP transformation where RCTQ was identified as a partner in providing technical assistance.
