RCTQ will collaborate with the Australia-supported Education Pathways to Peace in Mindanao (Pathways program) to undertake a mapping study of select teacher education institutions (TEIs) operating in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

With its partner institution, the SiMERR National Research Centre at the University of New England Australia, RCTQ will work in profiling the pre-service training of the sample TEIs; the academic programs they offer, specifically the approaches to K-3 teaching; and will recommend how the Pathways program can constructively engage with TEIs and schools in the region.

The TEI mapping study is expected to run during the second half of 2020.

Australia, through the Pathways program, recognizes the importance of teachers in improving educational performance and equity in the BARMM towards a more resilient, stable, peaceful and prosperous Mindanao. The Pathways program seeks to engage TEIs in improving the quality of the pre-service programs and, consequently, their teacher graduates.

RCTQ has supported various TEIs across the country in improving their pre-service curriculum through Curriculum Quality Audit (CQA), a distinctive form of curriculum mapping that is anchored on the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST), and uses international best practice in curriculum development.
