With support from the Australian Government, the RCTQ Director and the presidents of Philippine universities belonging to the National Network of Normal Schools (3NS) gained a learning experience down under in 2018 when they took leadership courses at the University of New England in New South Wales, Australia as recipients of the Australia Awards Fellowships.

RCTQ Director Dr. Gina Gonong joined the following university leaders in the fellowship titled “Applied development and research partnership in tertiary leadership and management” at UNE:

  • Dr. Arnulfo M. Mascariñas – President, Bicol University
  • Dr. Oscar B. Cabañelez – President, Bukidnon State University
  • Dr. Filomena T. Dayagbil – President, Cebu Normal University
  • Dr. Jude A. Duarte – President, Leyte Normal University
  • Dr. Prima Franco – OIC- President (2017); Vice President, Mariano Marcos State University
  • Prof. Marissa Pontillas – OIC, Office of the President (2018), Palawan State University
  • Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho – President, Western Mindanao State University
  • Dr. Luis M. Sorolla – President, West Visayas State University

The Australian Awards Fellowships was a component of the Australian government’s regional program that aimed to develop leadership and build partnerships and linkages with developing countries.

Dr. Gonong and the 3NS presidents join in the celebration of the Philippines Australia Friendship today as they continue to pursue reforms in pre-service education, owing to the long-standing partnership of the two nations in the field of education.
