RCTQ Director Dr. Gina Gonong was one of the education advocates who were invited to give a short message during the virtual launch of Oplan Balik Eskwela and Brigada Eskwela at the schools division of Catbalogan City on 8 June 2020.

Through a video message addressed to teachers, school heads, supervisors, and school personnel in Catbalogan City, Dr. Gonong said that despite the pandemic, “it is very important that we continue to deliver learning to students and young people because this helps sustain their mental health and well-being as they go through the critical period of development.”

“We need to find a delicate balance between health protection and learning continuity,” she said to all education frontliners in the division.

As their resilience will be tested in this unprecedented scenario, Dr. Gonong said that she is confident that their inherent dedication and commitment to their learners will help them surmount all these challenges.

“The spirit of Brigada Eskwela reminds us of the value of Bayanihan. I encourage you to continue to join hands and support each other so you can better help our learners,” Dr. Gonong said.

Dr. Gonong also paid tribute to the exceptional working relationship between RCTQ and Catbalogan City OIC Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Marilyn Siao.

Reflecting on Dr. Siao’s contribution in the development of the Philippine Professional Standards for Supervisors (PPSS), the RCTQ Director said: “We counted on her wisdom as member of the Technical Working Group for the PPSS, whose policy is expected to be released soon. I have always felt confident that under her committed and inspiring leadership, the Division of Catbalogan is in very good hands.”
